In trying to develop my lawn care plan, I came to the realization that milorganite costs nearly twice as much (at normal prices) as other sources of nitrogen (Scott's, urea, etc). I have read of the evils of synthetic fertilizers in early spring, but for the rest of the year, what are the pros and cons of Milo vs other N sources?

Prices in general are way up, but stores are just riding the popularity, charge as much as the market will allow. I'd shop around. The big box stores are all over $20/bag now, but the local TrueValue Hardware store here has been selling it for $13.95/bag all season. If you want organic, you could try SBM (soy bean meal). You should be able to get that pretty cheap at a local farm/ag supply. You could also try finding Sustane products, which are at least partially organic. Not sure what their available is like around the country.
